Life is joyous and messy, lovely and horrible. Lillie Sue Walloon’s life is an example of human relationships with all the joys and hardships of loving difficult people. Perhaps it could serve as a cautionary tale to guide others away from poor choices or to see a situation from another angle. Lillie did everything out of love and fear. She worked hard to succeed and was hit hard with the truth of her choices.
Lillie was raised by a loving, happy, but financially poor family. The Walloon family, except their two oldest children, was content with their position in life. Boyd Walloon was never a wealthy or powerful man by earthly standards, but by the standards of the soul there was none above him. People loved the Walloons and enjoyed being with them. Folks with bigger, fancier homes chose to celebrate at the humble Walloon home; for it was here that one would feel loved and be accepted no matter who you were or what was wrong with you. They were not perfect people, but people perfect to be human with.

I loved this book. I can't wait to read the next book. Once I started I couldn't stop reading it. What a journey! What an experience to see the life of a person unfold. Watching how Lillie Sue's decisions impacted her life and her family. It really showed how women defined themselves by men with wealth and power. It showed the true colors of some of the characters that were just not good people behind the scenes. It showed the effects of mental illness on a family, but also the love of a family and the tight bonds. So real, so captivating. Beautiful writing!Product details

Such an Amazing book you will laugh and cry and sometimes both at the same time. A book that will make you feel part of the family
Just saw this book at my mother's place and picked it up to review, she told me she had just read it and thought I might like it. I'm not an avid reader but once I started to read this book I couldn't put it down, the charactor development and story are really well done. For me it was a heart breaking story of mental, physical and financial control/abuse, however, there are some real loving & caring heros in this novel.
What a great story! You will laugh, you will cry and you will feel like a part of this family! Couldn't put it down!
This book draws you into the family and helps you understand living within a family with mental health issues. The author perfectly describes being torn apart by trying to love someone who continues to hurt everyone around them. A great, very insightful roller coaster of a read, I definitely recommend!
I loved this book so much, I read it twice!! It is one of the best books I've ever read and I read 1-2 books a week. You become so attached to the characters and the Walloon family that you will laugh, cry and be overjoyed in every chapter!! I couldn't put the book down!!.
